Penis enlargement and enhancement surgeries have been existing for several years now, but still there are many reservations about these surgical techniques, and with no mean reason. It focuses only on increasing the length, while this surgery answers the issues of increasing both the length and the breadth of the organ. Both these methods were introduced into the world several decades ago, but the have certainly taken a long while to enter into the scheme of things. This is quite unlike the comparable surgical procedure for women, i.e. breast enhancement surgery. When breast enhancement surgery has become as popular as having a tummy tuck, surgeries have still a very long way to go.
Still, these surgeries are undergoing a phase of development. There is still research being done, and experimentation is still the order of the day. Given this situation, it will be some time before the surgery is perfected. However, it has come much further than it was when it was first invented, and today penis surgery is a more or less safe technique, albeit very expensive.
The organ is given its hanging shape by suspensory ligaments. These are in fact the supporting bodies of the organ. These surgery methods make use of the suspensory ligaments. Using careful surgical techniques, the suspensory ligaments are cut vertically, so that they drop forward and hang better. As a result, the whole body of the organ seems to have been extended. The impression is that the organ has been elongated. While the total mass of the penis remains the same after the surgery, the ligaments are made to hang in a much better way, drawing out the organ at a better length. This gives the illusion of a longer penis.
Needless to say, all these surgeries need a lot of postoperative care. Since the organ has been elongated by splicing the delicate ligaments, there is a lot of care required so that there is not a modicum of further injury to the organ. Also, the organ needs to be stretched continuously for a few days after the surgery. If this is not done, then the suspensory ligaments which have been recently cut open will heal and join up again. This will make the organ regain its original short length and the effects of the surgery will be lost. However, this stretching must be done very carefully and in the manner specified by the surgeon. Any kind of rough handling of the organ would mean further injury, which could bring on irreparable damage. Masturbation and sexual penetration must also be given a break for a few days after the surgery.
To the advantage of the this surgery is the fact that it is the fastest way to gain inches. The surgery is guaranteed to increase the length. Even desired length can be achieved, which are decided by preoperative discussions between the patient and the surgeon. The ligaments will often be cut to the extent of the increase in length that the person desires.
People who have undergone these surgeries are often very pleased with the results. The main reason behind this is the fact that the organ increases very immediately in length, and so the results are very visible. There can be gain of several inches when the organ is flaccid. But the main disadvantage is that there is no marked improvement in the size of the erect organ. It should be noted here that erection is achieved due to the filling of the spongy tissues and the suspensory ligaments have no role to play in it. Hence, making the suspensory ligaments hang better has no effects on erection. This is a very big disappointment for a man, who is desirous of flaunting his organ to his woman. Since the organ will mostly be erect when the man shows it to the woman due to arousal, she would not be able to find any increase in the length.
But, this surgery does have its successes. It can bring about an increase of about half an inch in men of all ages, up to their late sixties. Though this increase might not be much, men are going in for it as it is more or less a permanent increase and is done through a qualified medical professional, unlike other methods. Also, the results are very fast. However, it must be said that most men are not satisfied with the results, especially if they are expecting too much,
A transplantation method is employed when the patient wants an increase in the girth of the organ. This is achieved by removing the fat cells from the abdominal or the thigh regions and then injected into the penile shaft, between the spongy tissue and the outer skin of the organ.
Though this procedure is seemingly quite simple, results are very disappointing. Fat cells can dissolve over time and the girth would be back to normal. It is by no means a permanent surgical technique. Also, several medical organizations, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery considers the procedure to be fraught with dangers. Adequate statistical data is not available, but what less is available indicates that there have been increases in girth by one inch in several men who have undergone these surgeries.
